Joan Rivers helps NewFest turn 22 and The Owls is there

NewFest, the New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender film festival is showing Guin Turner film The Owls (directed by Cheryl Dunye and bringing Max and Ely from Go Fish, back together on screen 16 years later. Well they’re not playing Max and Ely obviously, but V. S. Brodie is starring as Guins partner in The Owls, so that’s pretty weird right. Helping NewFest turn 22 is Joan Rivers, there as a special guest.

“From June 3rd through June 13th, the festival will present over 100 films from over 20 countries at the SVA Theater and Festival Lounge on 23rd Street in Chelsea, the Jewish Community Center on the Upper West Side, the Harlem Center Stage and more. Highlights are listed below (with descriptions care of the festival).”

The Owls is scheduled to appear on Woman’s Night – Sunday June 6 and tickets are $20.
